Hola from IWPS. Today we have been celebrating European Languages Day. In 5 Wrens, we learnt about all the different countries we had families in and languages we spoke in Europe and beyond! We discussed how learning languages (like Spanish which we learn in school) helps us to talk to new people and learn more about so many different cultures around the world.
Writing.
We are starting our writing this year with a whole school project, focusing on the picture book 'Journey'. We will writing the story up to a certain point and then the children will be creating their own ending. This will be a fantastic opportunity for the children to use all the writing skills we will be teaching and for them to utilise their fantastic imagination.
Maths.
This half term we will be focusing on place value, looking at what consitutes different numbers and how we can partition them to help us with our future mathematical learning.
Science.
In Science this half term we will be looking at the properites and changes of materials and the different states of matter.
History.
This term, we will be learning all about Ancient Greece! As part of our learning, we will research Ancient Greek society, the many Greek Gods and Goddesses and how much our modern day lives have been influenced by the Ancient Greeks.
On our Immersive Day we completed many Ancient Greek activities such as, designing our own Greek vases, competing in Olympic games, creating mask for a Greek play and using them to act out Theseus and the Minotaur. We even completed an Ancient Greek themed escape room. It was a very busy day!
