We used our voices to perform a story!
In English we have started a new writing topic. The children are going to be writing a story about a fire. They learnt a story all about a witch who had a problem with a spell to light a fire. They used drama to learn and perform the story.
In maths we are learning all about measurement. We used our rulers to measure objects in the classroom. Our rulers have centimetres on. Do you know how many millimetres are in a centimetre?
To celebrate books and reading the children dressed up as book characters. They looked wonderful!
In PE we have been using dance and movement to show the progress of the Great Fire of London. The children used their creativity and imagination to choreograph a routine.
We have been learning about Tudor houses and why the materials - which were flammable - helped spread the fire. The children used different paper and card to create their wonderful houses.
We have been learning about poetry and we have written our own poems about the Great Fire of London.

This week we created old looking paper by tea staining it and wrote a diary about the events of the Great Fire of London.
Today we started to learn about the Great Fire of London. We found about Samuel Pepys. He kept a secret coded diary all about the Great Fire of London. In order to protect his expensive cheese and wine he buried them in his garden. We couldn't believe our eyes when we found buried cheese, wine, a picture and a newspaper article all about the Great Fire of London.
Today we made houses to show the Great Fire of London. We drew them and carefully cut out the windows. We used tissue paper in the windows and doors to show the flames spreading. Did you know that the materials used to build the houses in 1666 were very flammable?
Today we thought about how we could make primary and secondary colours lighter or darker. Then we used red and yellow to paint a fire landscape. We cut out black card to show the silhouetted building of Tudor London. We think they look amazing!
In English, we have been learning all about the Great Fire of London. Samuel Pepys kept a diary which tells us about the Great Fire. We are working to write our own diary entry. Today we imagined falling into a painting of the Great Fire of London and what it would be like. We had some amazing ideas and used our imagination.
Today we looked at London’s Burning poem. We noticed that the author used repetition to make the poem clear and how exclamation marks were used to show how dramatic the fire was. In groups we learnt the poem and used our expressive voices to perform it.
Today we read and discussed London's Burning. We looked the words used and the punctuation. Why did the author use exclamation marks! As a class we performed using our voices expressively.
In year 2 we are learning to play the recorder. We are reading music and learning to play an assortments of different piece together.
Today we were dancing in unison. Have a look and see what you think!
