Well done Year 2! We are so impressed with how amazingly well you are doing during online lessons. You have all worked so hard.
Please find attached the Pitta Bread Pizza recipe as well as some extra recipes for you to try at home, if you wish.
This week we are learning to make healthy food choices. We made pitta bread pizzas with homemade tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese. We had a wonderful time - even if the classroom was super hot with the oven on!
We used shaving foam and paint to create layers. We then places our circle templates onto the shaving foam to create a marble effect. We thought it looked really cool! Have a look at our work and see what you think?
We used chalk to draw the Solar System. We used different colours and smudged the chalk to make our pictures mysterious and exciting.
We listened to music composed by Gustav Holst and thought about how it made us feel. We couldn't believe that it was written over a 100 years ago. Holst didn't compose music for Planet Earth so we had a go using a variety of instruments. What do you think?
Today we listened to ‘The Planets’ composed by Gustav Holst. We made predictions about what the music would sound like based on the title e.g. fast or slow, low or high pitched. In groups, we then created our own piece of music of Earth as this is the only planet not in the piece of music.
Today when we arrived to class a rocket had crashed in our classroom. We decided what our space mission was going to be called and designed logos for it. We then designed our own space suits we could wear to travel in the rocket. After lunch there was a mystery space suit in our classroom and footprints. We then decorated our new rocket and made our classroom full of space artwork. Have a look at what we got up to.
Today we received a letter from Tim Peake asking us to think about what it was like on the International Space Station. We thought about how cramped and dark we would be blasting off from Earth. What would we eat? Could we write and work with our space gloves on? What would it be like to look at space rocks? We had a fabulous time!
Today we made junk model rockets. We had so much fun! Take a look and see what you think
Today we practiced throwing and catching using soft balls. We challenged ourselves to catch with one hand. We then used a racket to see if we could bounce the ball up and down. Finally we practiced using the racket to pass the ball to our partner.
Objects are launched into space by putting them on rockets with enough fuel — called propellant — to boost them above most of Earth’s atmosphere. Once a rocket reaches the right distance from Earth, it releases the satellite or spacecraft. The rocket needs enough fuel and power to take off and escape Earth's gravity. We didn't have enough time to build and launch a rocket before Assembly on Friday but we had fun making rockets and seeing what happened when you add Mentos to diet coke!
We had fun to today finding out who had the heaviest potato and the longest carrot. We also dressed up as various numbers. To add to the fun we made some rockets and launched them of the end of our desks to see which one travelled the longest distance. Check out our Mentos and Diet Coke experiment as well!
