Transition to Year 1

The Year 1 classrooms are situated upstairs in the main building. Children will enter/leave from the doors which open into the main playground. In the morning we encourage children to make their own way up to the classroom. For the first week the Year 1 teachers will meet their classes on the playground. At the end of the day, please collect your child from the main playground doors where you child's class teacher will be waiting.

1A will enter through the North Entrance and 1F will enter through the South Entrance.
Start Time: 8.40am             Home Time: 3.00pm
PE Day - 1A: Tuesdays 2-3pm       1F: Mondays 2-3pm

The Year 1 class teachers will be Mrs Ajayi and Mrs Fisher. In Year 1 the children will follow the National Cuurriculum which will be taught creatively. 

Your child will be set regular homework. We ask you to support your child and return the work to school. The children are expected to read three times a week at home. Please record your child's reading in their reading diary. They also have a weekly spelling test. We encourage the children to take part in #IWPSlittlethings.

To further support with transition, we suggest looking at our new dinner menu for the Autumn term and selecting the meals your child would like. We will send copies home for you to complete in September, or you can print them off at home.

We are busy getting the classrooms ready for September so they may look a little different but they will be an inviting and inspiring place for you to learn. More pictures to follow. We can't wait to fill the displays with all your wonderful work.
