Anti-bullying!

Throughout the week, we have discussed what bullying is. We have looked at what makes a 'bully' bully somebody and more importantly, what we can do if we feel that we are being bullied. We reminded ourselves where the worry slips are in the classroom and who we can talk to if we feel worried about something. As a class, we also discussed how we are all different and we all have things that we are good at and things that make us unique! We then went on to look at what a good friend is and how we can be a good friend! Photos of our work are to follow!

Anti-bullying week

As part of anti-bullying week the children were given scenarios. As a class we discussed how the person might be feeling and what a good friend would do to help. The children worked in groups to think about how they could help to make the situation better. They created a sequence of pictures to show how they could solve the problem and really started to understand how they can help to stop bullying from happening in school and what to do if they think that somebody is being bullied.

Franz Marc!

As part of our Could a Wild Lion Live in Leeds topic, we created our own interpretations of the artist Franz Marc. We looked at some of his work, sketched our own picture of a lion and then added colour using water colour paints.

Roald Dahl Day!

Year 2 celebrated Roald Dahl's 100 birthday in style! Have a look at some of our FANTASTIC costumes!!

Place Value!

This half term we are working really hard on place value. This week the children have been fantastic at counting in 2's, 5's and 3's and started to apply this to sequences. We are beginning to look at recognising the value of each digit in a 2-digit number using Base 10 and Numicon to partition numbers into the tens and ones.

Animals in Tuition

Today our Year 2 children had a very exciting morning as we had some special visitors in school! Animals in Tuition visited the children to show them a range of animals from all over the world. Our very brave Year 2's all had the chance to hold or stroke a snake and some of them even held a tarantula! The children had lots of questions and tomorrow they are going to write all about the incredible animals that they saw.

English

This half term 'Don't read this book!' is our English stimulus. This is a story about a king who orders his storyteller to write him a book. Throughout this term we will be looking at different sentence types including statements, commands, questions and exclamations.
