Our year 1's competed against 4 other schools in the area. We played Football, Volleyball, Boccia, New Age Kurling and performed some multi-skills, we had a brilliant day!
Our Year 4 cricketers won the competition! Well done children you won all of your games and are now going to represent Leeds at the West Yorkshire Games!
Our AMAZING year 4 gymnasts came second in the Leeds City Gymnastics finals! They worked hard for months to learn a sequence, body management routine and perfect the vault. We even made it into a local school sports magazine! Miss O'Brien is so proud of you children!
The whole school participated in the cross country competition, well done everyone for trying really hard especially the medal winners! The overall winning team was.....ELM!
Great game against Horsforth Newlaithes. We went 2 down in the first half but came back fighting in the second half and didn't concede any goals.
What a brilliant morning we had at the Panathlon. We participated in lots of different activities and came 5th overall out of all of the schools in West Yorkshire!
Our A, B and C team competed against other schools in the LS16 Cluster. They performed 3 different aspects each. Our A team came 2nd by 0.1 mark! Well done all!
Some brilliant Tennis played against Cookridge Primary School. The children scored and umpired each others games, great leadership and sportsmanship skills were shown.
Winners! well done to our Athletes who won their 1st round heat against 5 other schools. In the final we came a very respectable 3rd, Mr Blackburn and Miss O'Brien are so proud of you!
Well done to our footballers who played a tournament against Newlaithes and Holy Trinity. We unfortunately lost to Newlaithes and won against Holy Trinity.
Huge congratulations to our runners who participated in the cross country competition, you were brilliant! A special mention to Matthew (year 6) who came 7th out of over 50 boys and Kyro who came 6th out of over 50 boys too. Amazing!
As part of their PE lessons Years 5 and 6 have been participating in, and learning about, the Paralympic Games. They held an intra school competition, well done to our winners, Willow.
The whole school participated in the above competitions, Beech won the Boccia and Elm won the NAK, it was a fabulous day which gave lots of our children the opportunity to participate in a new activity.
We are a Gold school for the second consecutive year! Such an achievement- over 90% of our KS2 children participated in an inter-school competition this year.

Our Year 4's participated in a Skipping competition organised by The Skipping School. The children got lots of individual Bronze, Silver and Gold medals. Our amazing effort for the skip dance gained us a Bronze award! Well done Mr Collins and the Year 4 children.
Leeds United, the Police and Network Rail teamed up to educate the children about Rail Safety. The children had a thoroughly enjoyable and useful morning. They got to play football in the station, have a station tour and meet the police.
Some of Year 5 went to Ilkley Tennis Club for the morning. They were lucky enough to participate in a range of activities which helped improve their tennis skills. They absolutely loved watching the professionals play in an extremely close match. They were excited to hear that the overall winner received $50,000!
Some children from Y3 participated in the Brownlee triathlon at John Charles Centre for Sport. They swam a length of the pool, cycled 800m, and ran 400m. We had a great day and even got to hold the leaders trophy for the World Series Triathlon. Unfortunately Jonathan and Alistair couldn't be there because they were busy training!
Our Year 5 cricketers performed really well at the inter school cricket competition last week. Their teamwork was brilliant to see. They performed some excellent bowling, some amazing catches and we lost count of all of the 6's they were hitting! We came 3rd overall in our group- well done!

Both Year 1 and 5 had a fabulous time participating in the coaching session and competitions against other schools. We learnt lots of new skills and then applied these in game situations.
Our athletes had a brilliant morning at John Charles. They participated in a range of running, jumping, throwing and wheelchair activities. Take a look at our medals!
Gymnasts, you were AMAZING! You were so cool, calm and collected when performing in front of the judges. Your performances were wonderful to watch!
Our Year 5's and 6's were runners up in the Tag Rugby competition. We narrowly missed out on qualifying for the city finals-by one try! However, the team work and resilience was lovely to watch. Well done especially to Kyle Asquith who is only in Year 4 and certainly 'held his own' against lots of Year 6's and even scored a couple of trys!
Years 5 and 6 gymnasts represented Ireland Wood brilliantly at the Leeds City Gymnastics Final.
Well done to our 3 teams who entered the gymnastics competition. You worked so hard to memorise the sequence, perform the body management and mount and dismount the vault. All staff and parents were so proud!
